1. Max has an abscess where his umbilical cord was, so Saturday, we had to call the vet out to look at it. On top of that, we had friends over, though it was amazingly providential the way it worked out so that they could help us. They gave my Big Boy some stuff to put him down, and the poor thing practically fell over! He did very good considering the fact that she stuck a sharp knife thing into the abscess and cut it open, squeezed it, flushed it, and then put antibiotics in it. He was still awake, but just kinda lay there half dead the whole time. It was actually funny to see him. When he did get up, he was really wobbly.
2. We had a big *third* of July thing, as we didn't want to do it on the Lord's Day. So Saturday was pretty busy. We had about 20-some people over, but it was really fun. Max, Belle and Silkie got tons of attention from our guests, and the fireworks was great! I took some pictures so you guys could see.
3. Today, which is Monday, I went out with Dad and Nathan so that I could work with the horses. Silkie hasn't been lunged in a long time, so I did that, and then did Belle, (who was very confused; I don't think she's ever been lunged before), and then went up to the barn to test-tie Max. He hasn't been tied before, so I tied him up to see what he'd do. He did pretty good, actually, and then I messed with his feet to get him used to the farrier. He did VERY good on that; I was pleased. Then I actually washed Silkie's mane. That animal was DIRTY! Goodgrief. I got soaked, then got muddy when she rolled on me. Speaking of muddy, the first thing she did when I was done was go and roll! Grrrrrrrr........
4. Sunday was Belle's Birthday! She's now officially 6 years old. :)
5. Ah...my favorite part. Saturday, mom and I are going to go see the Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats! YIPPEEEE!!!!! I've never been to anything like that....I'm sure it'll be loads of fun! Unfortunately, they won't let you take pictures there, so that's a bummer...but oh well. Hey, at least I'll get to go!
So, that's about it for the moment. I'll post some videos and pictures for you to see. :)
Hope everyone had a blessed Fourth of July! (Or third...or fifth...whatever the case may be!)
In Christ's Name,
-Hannah
