This morning, my dad sent me an e-mail containing the following. We live in urgent times and this is a VERY urgent subject. I beg you to read this AND TAKE ACTION!!!

Dear friends who live in the United States,

(Please feel free to circulate this correspondence widely and rapidly)

This is a matter of great urgency. Please take a moment to contact your representative in the U.S. House of Representatives and express your opposition to the homosexual “hate crimes” bill (H.R. 1913) that will likely be voted on sometime tomorrow (Wednesday). Call 202-225-3121 or 202-224-3121 or contact your representatives through www.congress.org.

Support for a “hate” bill that enshrines “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” into federal law (note that it is not yet so enshrined) does not mean merely that you oppose hateful, violent acts against persons who self-identify as homosexuals, transsexuals, and cross-dressers. Laws are already in place protecting persons who identify as homosexual or transgendered. They are the same laws that protect all of us from violent physical or verbal attacks.

Support for such a bill means, in effect, that you are in favor of the federal government taking an official, legal stance that opposition to homosexual practice and transgenderism of any sort is hatred and bigotry akin to virulent racism and liable to state prosecution. Any statement against such homosexual practice or transgenderism could be prosecuted as an “incitement” or “inducement” of others to violence, no matter how loving and rational that expression of opposition may be.

A “sexual orientation hate” crime bill does virtually all its damage in establishing “sexual orientation” as a category of being that is worth the federal government’s vigorous special protection. A person who has a problem with the behavior arising from homosexual “orientation” will be legally established as a “bigot,” even if he or she does not commit a violent crime. That status becomes codified in law. Your opposition to homosexual practice, no matter how loving and rational, puts you in the category of a virulent racist who regards African Americans as morally inferior beings.

In establishing an official “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” protection category, “sexual orientation” hate laws make inevitable, so-called “employment nondiscrimination acts” for “sexual orientation” that turn out to be “employment discrimination acts” against people in the workplace who do not want to support a homosexualist agenda. Together they make inevitable the passage of legislation that mandates acceptance of “gay marriage.” It is not possible to be for a “sexual orientation thought-crime” bill and not also be for the enforcement of “gay marriage” because the former leads inevitably to the latter. That is how the courts in Massachusetts and, recently Iowa, operated. They moved from “sexual orientation” laws in “hate crime” and “employment” to treating as intrinsically discriminatory any opposition to “gay marriage.”

Look at how far things have already gone in Canada. Among those recently fined thousands of dollars are: Father Alphonse de Valk and Catholic Insight Magazine for speaking against homosexual behavior; Bill Whatcott, a Catholic activist, for producing pamphlets that called homosexual practice immoral (Whatcott was also “banned for life” from criticizing homosexuality); Stephen Boisson, a pastor, for a letter to a newspaper denouncing homosexual practice as immoral (also ordered to desist from expressing his views on homosexual practice in any public forum).

Can’t happen in the United States? Even though some high court justices have already made appeals to precedents in foreign law to support the homosexualist agenda here? Tell that to the freelance female photographer who on the grounds that it violated her Christian belief declined to photograph a lesbian wedding and, as a result, was ordered by the New Mexico Human Rights Commission to pay over $6000 to the lesbian couple.

This past year an African-American woman Crystal Dixon was removed from her position as associate vice president for human resources at the University of Toledo simply because she wrote an editorial in a newspaper saying that homosexual behavior should not be compared to being black.

Rolf Szabo, Richard Peterson, Kenneth Gee, Annie Coffey-Montes, and Albert Buonanno were all fired from their corporate or government jobs in the United States for not wanting to “celebrate” at their work station “sexual orientation” diversity.

A Christian ministry in New Jersey has been subject to state investigation for refusing to allow a lesbian civil union ceremony to be conducted on its property.

In California affirmation of homosexual practice is now mandatory for public schools from the earliest grades on up; teachers who refuse to go along are subject to termination.

I commend to you also an analysis by law professor Shawn Akers posted at http://americansfortruth.com/news/analysis-of-2009-hate-crimes-bill-hr-1913.html. As Akers notes,

“This bill will certainly be construed in light of existing federal law including specifically United States Code Title 18, Section 2, that says that : “Whoever commits an offense against the United States or aids, abets, counsels, commands, induces or procures its commission, is punishable as a principal.” (emphasis added). This is the feared immediate nexus between the speech of a pastor or radio commentator and the actions of a deranged parishioner or listener. Proponents of the bill argue that it clearly, under its own language, applies only to acts of violence. This argument is misleading and naïve in that it implies that criminal liability would be available only for the person physically committing the violent act, while ignoring completely the likelihood that courts, especially ideologically driven, activist courts, will impose criminal liability on those deemed complicit in the violent act whether or not they physically contributed to the act….

“In other words, because penalties already exist for those who commit criminal acts, HR 1913 serves only to punish individuals for the beliefs, opinions, or convictions held at the time an act is committed. As such, HR 1913 does not punish criminal intent, but criminalizes thought….

“Tellingly, in the April 23, 2009 Judiciary Committee hearings on HR 1913, Representative Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) said unequivocally that “We need to protect victims against hateful words, hateful acts and even violent acts.”

What about the Christian's rites???

Various Things

Hi everyone!
I'm very sorry for not posting in a while, but, it's been pretty busy! (I know that's always my excuse...but it's a good excuse!:)
Anyway, this May, in the third week, I and my family will be off to Memorial Day held at Scott Brown's farm in Wake Forest NC. We will be leaving for the Home school Conference that is held a few days before, and then move on to another hotel for Memorial Day. Scott Brown has a HUGE farm, and it's TONS of fun to go there. This will be our second year, and I'm very excited! (as you can probably tell:)
My Spring/Summer is going to be VERY full: we have several events coming up, and we'll be traveling a bit. We're also planning, Lord willing, to breed our horse Belle. If all goes well, she will have her foal next late Spring/early Summer. This will be a HUGE task, and a first time, too. Needless to say, we'll be very busy. We're also hoping to get our horse Silkie trained so that we can actually ride her. :) And of course that involves transporting her and so on. Red, our 28 year-old gelding, is getting very old and is having problems more frequently, and it will probably get worse in the future. I mean, they're not bad problems yet, but it will get worse, more than likely. We've still got a ton to do on the barn, and we need to get the other stall done (we only have two done) before we can do anything with Belle. Dad also wants my brother and I to learn entrepreneurial ship and start a family business. This will take up quite a bit of our summer. Which is okay. :) (We're actually thinking on selling farm fresh eggs) Which leads me to another task; we're hoping to turn our shed into a chicken house and get some chickens...which is going to be...how should I say? Crazy? Let me explain:
It was still dark outside when my alarm clock (which is my music) went off on the CD player. I sat up in bed drowsily, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes and peering at the clock. It was exactly 6:00 AM. I stretched a bit and then stumbled out of bed, turning down the volume on the CD player. It was hushed and dark in the house, and dad had gone downstairs to his office. Mom was awake, but was in the shower. I poured myself some coffee, stirring in the creamer quietly with a spoon, careful not the clank it against the sides of the mug. Walking over the computer, I sat down to check my mail...but then, Marshall, our Great Pyrenees, started barking. I tried to ignore him, but he just kept on and kept on, and our neighbors dogs were barking. I finally got up and glanced outside, and noticed that my horses were running around the pasture at an alarming rate, and looking as if startled over the hill to my uncle's house. They were all prancing around up there, silhouetted by the rising sun. 'What on earth?' I thought as I stepped outside. It was cool and nice, but all I could hear was the dogs barking and the horses snorting VERY loudly. Now, when a horse is startled, and sees or hears something that it doesn't know what it is, it lets out this very loud snort, that's more of a loud blow than a snort. If you've never heard it, I can't describe it. Anyway, that's what they were doing, so I knew that SOMETHING SOMEWHERE was wrong. I ran to mom's bathroom and called her to come outside. There we stood on the front porch, both of us in bathrobes. The horses were still acting up, and running around snorting and looking towards my uncle's property. We both ran up the drive way to see what was wrong in the dim morning light, and as we ran, we heard this strange, haunting noise. It sounded like a high-pitched whistle at first, but then as we got to the top of the driveway, it became clearer. I got to the top first, and mom came up behind me. "Why," she said, "that's a rooster!" Sure enough, that was a rooster's call. Belle, Silkie, Red and the goats came running to the front gate, and pranced around, jumping each time the rooster crowed. Belle, bless her heart, was scared half out of her wits. She stood there at the gate, snorting very loudly and head held high. Her tail was arched and her eyes were wide. Same with the other horses, they too were scared. Well, no one around where we live owns chickens...so, that was strange. Mom and I ran down the road (and no, there are hardly any cars on the road we live on:) and to my uncle's driveway. Well, there's this old car parked there that hasn't been moved in ages, and the rooster must've been under it, because that's where the noise was coming from. He must've seen us coming, because he went silent as we approached. We couldn't find him, so we came on back. I walked up to the gate and patted Belle's head, who was still quite nervous. She's so sweet! She looked at me and layed her head over my shoulder, seeming to want comfort. I rubbed in between her ears, talking to her quietly, and she seemed to calm down. Well, that was an interesting experience, and then that evening, when my brother and I went to feed the horses, who were STILL startled, (we couldn't even get them to eat) and we heard it again. My brother and I ran over as fast as we could, and still couldn't find it. I asked my cousin, and he said that he had seen one out there, and planned to have "fried chicken" for supper. :) Anyway, that settles that...my horses DON'T like chickens!

The Wonders of God's Creation...Horses

....Horses...a Wonder of God's Creation....

Horses are probably the most fascinating creatures of all times...in my mind, anyway. They are one of the most--if not THE--most graceful wonders of God's creation. He made the horse specially designed to carry a human being, and to be tamed for man's uses. Horses can be wild as the wind or as gentle and delicate as a spring flower. I have the privilege of owning three horses: an American Quarter Horse, which is the fastest horse to run a quarter of a mile in under a minute, and can, for a fact, stop from a full gallop and turn on a quarter...literally. A Halflinger, which is a small version of the Belgian Draft horse, known for their gentleness and stalky build, and an American Paint Horse, known for their quick wit and quiet temper. All horses have a graceful, yet powerful look about them, giving them a beauty all of their own. Words can not describe them...you can only behold their majesty with your own eyes. Next time you see any horse, if you haven't ever stopped to look, stop now. Stand there and look at him. Watch him. See what he does. Watch his ears prick and his eyes brighten as he looks at you, wondering if you've brought him a treat. Watch him lower his muzzle into the grass and chomp away contentedly. Watch him sniff at another horse curiously, or lift his noble head to catch a scent in the wind. Watch him gallop with nothing but sheer energy if he is in a frisky mood, or trot about, snorting and swishing his tale to warn off another horse. Just watch and observe, and maybe you'll see why I love them so much.

Cute Song from "Redwall: Doomwyte"

Hi everyone!
I'm very sorry for not posting in a while: it's been really busy around here and I haven't found the time. :( Anyway, I like reading the "Redwall" series by Brian Jacques, a British writer in England. They're really cute books, and there's 20 some in the series. Anyway, I've been reading his latest one, Doomwyte. It's really good, but for those of you who may want to read it...I won't spoil the fun. :)
I found this really cute song in the book, and thought that I'd share it with you:

I'm Back!

Hi friends!
Well, I'm back from the 2009 Father & Daughter Retreat. First of all...let me say that this post is going to contain about 50 pictures. :) (Trust me...I have a TON more than that.)
I really don't know where to start, but I must say that this most probably is the best Father~Daughter that I've ever been to. Mr. Voddie Baucham was there and delivered a speech entitled "What He Must Be if He is Going to Marry My Daughter." It was EXCELLENT! Mr. Doug Phillips, Mr. Scott Brown and Mr. Jeffery Botkin were there. Mr. Botkin's daughters, Anna Sofia and Elizabeth spoke on how we, as young ladies, should treat our brothers in Christ. It was wonderful. I took a TON of notes, and wish that I had the time to write some of them here. I took my "So Much More" book written by Anna & Elizabeth, and had them sign it for the second time. :) I also personally met....*drum roll*....Liberty Phillips! I was so nervous when I went to speak to her...I was stuttering! I never, ever stutter. She's the most dearest girl that I've ever met, and I thank God that he allowed us to be friends. I also met Jasmine Baucham, and enjoyed her company emmensly. There are some pictures of us together. And I want to give my regards to all of my blogger friends that I met there, I greatly enjoyed their lovely company and love them like sisters! I met Julia from Julia's Journal, Emily Rose from An Old Fashioned Vintage Girl, Breezy from A Bowl Of Moss and Pebbles, Earwen from Thoughts of A SheildMaiden, and Cassie from Inside Cassie's Mind. Cassie and I have been friends before getting blogs, but the rest mentioned above...we JUST met! Emily Rose and Breezy are dear girls and I love them to death! Earwen (I don't think that she wants her real name here) is the most fun, lovely young lady that I've ever met! She brightened my day even though it was raining. It rained the WHOLE time, but that didn't matter....we enjoyed like-minded fellowship much more. Some friends from our church came with us, so we were able to sit at the same table together at the High Tea. The Tea was fun...and I ACTUALLY drank hot tea! (The last two years, I didn't drink any:) It was fun, and the rules to it were rather challenging! You had certain spoons and forks that you used for either the tea or food, and you had to eat the food in a certain order. :)
We didn't have the games because it was raining, but we did have the picnic inside. Saturday night there was the time when about 25 little girls would jump up and down, trying to be picked as one of the eight to nine girls that would be picked for the "Serenading Act". The chosen daughters would take their dads up on stage, and the dads would have to sing "Edelweiss" or "You are My Sunshine" to their little girls. That was sweet. These two won. (Next year, I'm taking MY dad up there!)
The Butterfly Garden was lovely, and I had one come and sit on my shoulder! I met twins; Sydney and Genesis. They are fun, happy girls that I love to be around.
All of us girls got together and took a group picture, most of us being friends. Then I met "Susan Pevensie"...she came all the way from Narnia. :)
We also went to the chaple on a rainy, stormey day to do our Bible reading. It was very quiet and peaceful.

So, we had a wonderful and blessed week, and I'm already looking forward to next year!

Goodbye, Dear Brothers and Sisters!

My dad and I are leaving Wednesday for the Father & Daughter Retreat down at Callaway Gardens in GA, and I am packing today. Tomorrow night is Bible study and I probably won't be able to get back on until next Monday. I may be able to squeeze in a couple of minutes later on, so if you send me any comments, I'll try to publish them. :) (Don't get me wrong...DO send comments!:)
I'll try to answer as many comments/e-mails that come in today and some of tomorrow, but I won't be able to Wednesday through Monday. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know.

The Simple Woman's Day Book: Week Five

Hi everyone,
I'm so sorry about not posting in a while; as you know, the Father & Daughter Retreat is coming up, so we're getting ready for that, and we're also trying to get some school done. In other words...it has been VERY busy!
We're having a Bible study here at our house every Tuesday evening, and my mom and I cook dinner for about 23 people, including us. Right now, my dad is out of town, so we didn't have it this time, but next week, the evening before the F/D Retreat, we're doing it. Please be praying for my mom and I as we cook for all of these people, and please pray for my dad as he leads the study.

Alright, now, since I have to go and feed the horses here in a minute, I'll do something quick:

For Today: March 18th, 2009
Outside my window: It is late evening; my favorite time of day. :) The sun is out and the wind is blowing slightly, mixing in with the last trills of birdsong.
I am thinking: About how I just described the above answer. :)
I am thankful for: Days like this.
From the kitchen: Nothing. All is quiet. (Though I do hear the dog barking outside)
I am wearing: Beige colored shorts and a pink shirt that says "Lee".
I am reading: Stepping Heavenward, my Bible and Doomwyte.
I am hoping: To go to bed soon...I'm tiered! :)
