Concert Time!

So, believe it or not, mom and I went to a Herman's Hermits concert Saturday night. Mom had bought tickets to see her teenage heart-throb group quite a while back, so I decided to go with her and see what it was like for myself.
We had a GREAT time, and my mom was ecstatic - she's wanted to see this guy (Peter Noone) for a very long time, and she finally got the chance to. We didn't get home until 11:40 or so that night, but the whole thing was so much fun; I knew a few of his songs, so it wasn't like it was completely foreign to me.
To get better pictures, I left my seat and went down to the front of the stage; it was a great spot, and the concert was small-ish, so I didn't get kicked out for being so close to the stage.
There was a signing right after the concert was over so mom got her program book autographed, and since I didn't have any paper... "just sign my hand," I smiled as he shook it. "I don't have any paper!" He laughed and says in his proper British accent, "Hey, you were the girl down there taking all the pictures!"
Enjoy the pictures (that he caught me taking), and there's a couple of videos at the end :)

When Leaves Start to Fall

When leaves start to fall, I find myself in a very thoughtful state of mind; curled up in my chair with a blanket and a steaming mug of coffee, journal open in front of me.
I woke up this morning to the sound of rain, the draft of cold Autumn air seeping in through my window.
The are the kind of days I love.
The days where I stop to think about people that are special to me, where I smile as I go through the memories I have of them and flip through the well-worn pages of my journal to read about them.
The days where I stop to do a lot of praying about anything that comes to mind. Where I go outside onto the porch as it rains and just talk to God about everything.
Everything seems to slow down and breathe a little, and when it does, I have to as well.
I have to take a small step back and look everything over and try to piece things together, wondering what happens next in this crazy, wild plot of a story.
This kind of weather makes me want to write. To weave some fantastic scene and bring characters to life.
I'm a writer at heart, even when I feel like I'm doing a terrible job and no inspiration comes.
But, I'm a writer nonetheless. Of all things I thought I'd be, it was never that.
Not long ago, someone said five simple words to me that inspired me to keep writing. Just those five words made a difference.
     "I think Cafe will publish."
That was it. It made me so happy to hear that. Five words that pushed me to keep going.
Kind words from a friend are the most beautiful things to hear. Even small words. Even just a smile.
     It uplifts like nothing else.
God commands us to speak kindly to one another; to uplift and encourage.
One small word can completely change a person's day, so find something kind to say to a family member or friend today - it'll make a big difference.

Autumn is my favorite time of year - it gives me this feeling inside of being alive and knowing that exciting things are going to happen. I just have to wait for them to start unfolding.
Pour your favorite cup of coffee today (after all, it IS National Coffee Day,) and open a book or your journal - dive in write, your thoughts down.
Enjoy every moment of it, because every moment, you're still alive.

P.S. This is a mini-video I put together yesterday on a whim. Nothing fancy; just trying to capture the feeling I have when writing. :) Enjoy!

Agenda: Grinding America Down

This is honestly very, very scary. We watched it last night, and as I result, I had an emotional meltdown by myself in the bathroom. It's depressing... but it *must* be watched. If you haven't seen this, get out there and buy it. We *have* to do something. We have to.
If you have seen it, post it on your blogs and spread it to everyone. This isn't just another conspiracy theory film - this is real. It's completely in plain sight. Please, please, PLEASE watch this. Even if it's uncomfortable and disturbing... it's what's happening in the nation we *live* in.

I won't be at all surprised if my blog is eventually taken down because of the things I say, because I cannot, and I will not remain silent. This is *my* country. I *live* here, and I simply can't just watch it go down. Don't think that you're not being monitored by our government - everything we say and do is watched closely.

Go buy this movie. I can't urge you enough.

The Dark

This morning, my little sister scared me to *death* in the shower. I went to take one, and when I opened the door, the first thing I did was look at the mirror; there she stood, jaw dropped open and eyes wide in the look that she knows CREEPS. ME. OUT.
It was *hilarious*, so I decided to put together a short, 55 second video. I don't own the music, of course. ^_^
      Enjoy our insanity!!

SwordPlay

This is an older video I did awhile back, so, the effects could use a little tweaking, but, oh well. :)
The sound, once again, is off. *growls*. Though, thankfully, it doesn't matter as much for this one as it did the first. ^_^ At any rate, check it out - and *please* leave a comment!

Not Enough to Do....

So - here we go with more insanity! My brother is the official 'Sweet Tea Maker' of the house, and trust me - it's *great*. Another fact you should know is that he's obsessed with Last of the Mohicans.
Now.
Put the two together.
... This is what you get.

I Say Goodbye -(2011)-

photo from Google - credit goes to photographer

It's that time of year again. It's time to say goodbye.
I honestly can't believe that 2011 is over. It makes me sad in a lot of ways, but amazingly excited at the same time. It only seems like yesterday that January first, 2011 was knocking on my front door - now it's 365 days later, and my year is full.
So many things happened in 2011 - it makes my head hurt. Good things, mostly. Beautiful things. To sum up my year in only a few simple words, it would be this:

Happiness, Sadness, Tears...
Skies, Stars - all in, my Heaven

This would be my year. A mixture of the beautiful, the laughter, the sadness - a combination of awe, excitement, and prayer. That has been my year. Tonight, I have only five more pages to fill in my 400 page journal, all full with deep thought. I'll stay up with the lamps on until midnight, writing, praying, reading my Bible, singing, listening to music. I'll list the events of the year, writing in very small letters to make it fit. 400 pages of 2011 - yes, my year is full. So many new faces, so much love and tears. On some pages, the ink is smeared because I cried on it, on others, it's hardly readable because I was so excited. I'm writing these books for my girls to read - I want them to be consoled that their mom had the same insanities as they will have. ^_^
It's hard to say goodbye to 2011 for a lot of reasons... mostly because it will never happen again, and it was beautiful. We're trekking into a New Year, and
it's just a feeling, but I think it will be breathtaking. I'm excited, but nervous at the same time. Before I can breathe, it'll be time to write

I Say Goodbye -(2012)-, and I'll be smiling at the things I said here.

God has been so merciful to me this year, and I can look back and see a progression in my life. I feel ashamed when I don't give Him the thought or love that He deserves. He's protected the people I love, continued to shelter me under His wing, showed me His grace, and taught me lessons - He's held my hand all year. That I can, by His mercy, call Him 'Lord' and 'Father', puts me to my knees nearly every time. I can truly say, 'I am His, and He is mine.'

An ocean of clouds distorts our view into His skies, but they are beautiful. He's teaching me to trust; to be quiet and listen to the silence. The fact is, it's not silent - it's always working. Hope . It's always working. Even when we can't see.
I feel like crying while I write, because the realization of the year fading is beginning to hit me. 2011 ...
Music is playing in my ears, and it's coming from the heart. The wind is blowing...
Wind, stop blowing, this is my last letter to you. All I can do is close my eyes, and

Say goodbye

But it's a beautiful goodbye. I'll always keep it locked away in my heart. I can't stop time, though sometimes I wish I could.

My heart keeps burning, but the clock goes on as ever, tik-tik-tok
I can't stop time, but I can live in it.

2011 has brought new hope into my life, and with that, new smiles and tears. Life is beautiful, and it's too short to not smile.
It's too short to not give Him the glory.
It's too short to not pray for people.
And it's too short to not live it to its fullest.

I've made so many good memories this year. Memories with my family, my friends, the people I love. I've grown so much closer to the people I already know, and even though we can be insane, He's always in our sights. I've been able to pray with friends this year in a way that I haven't before, and we've been able to understand each other more and better than last year.
Both family and friends can give you headaches, and I'm sure I give them more than they do me  - but they've been placed in our lives for a reason, and I love them.
2011 has been full of beautiful things - amazing things - and I can look back and smile. Life is beautiful.
Bring in 2012 with hope and prayer in your hearts, giving your Maker all of the glory. Here we come....

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding...

Candy in Korea

I thought this was *adorable* ^_^
Watch how he makes the candy - wow! It's so amazing! It's kinda like watching a guy make the dough for the pizza, right? ;)

Just thought I'd put it up for laughs -

2 Years Ago Today

Yes, two years ago at around this time, 9:23 AM, I was cold and wet, sitting with my hurting horse in the woods, wishing him to get well. Sadly, he died only a little while later. He was 28 years old, and had some sort of stroke the night before; he couldn't walk right. He'd fallen during the early morning sometime down a slippery hill, and was trapped in a big hole, straddling a log. My poor baby. We called as many people as we knew on that rainy, misty morning, just like it is this morning, and tried so hard to get him to stand. He tried, too, but couldn't. So... *sigh* We put him down. My poor baby. I miss him. He was the sweetest thing ever. Good old Red...
If you'd like to see the tribute my dear friend did for him, you can go here.
We love you, Red! Always!

Where I'd Be...

A rainy day in Seoul...
the streets still move, the cars still hum by, but there's something different when it rains. Things change. Suddenly, the lights inside buildings seem warmer, more inviting. You begin to wonder, just what are other people thinking as they walk by, umbrellas in hand? The water slips away, pools in the roads; a car sprays it against the sidewalk - maybe against you. Rain. Beautiful, thoughtful rain...

This video is very beautiful if you turn down the volume on it a little, and pick a thoughtful piece of music from the playlist on my sidebar.

a rainy day.

What are you doing today?

A Year Ago Today

Exactly one year ago today, Lemon died in his sleep on the 13th of October. I still miss our dear boy... he was such a sweet, loving cat, and fought until the end.
You can read his post here, and watch the video tribute my wonderful friend Caroline did for him here.

We've missed him dearly over the past 365 days, and it's really hard to believe that it truly has been a whole year.
This post is programmed to launch this morning, as I wrote it last night. This time last year, we were crying, and tending to a sad moment.

Yes, they're just animals... but sometimes, they're the best friends you've got. Love your pets while you can.
My 11 year old cat, Sheba, was our first, and she showed up only a year after we'd moved here. She's still alive and well, and still, after 10 years, sleeps at my side every night. I often slip into sleep, stroking her back, saying a prayer and thanking Him that she's still there for me to snuggle with. It will be horrible when she goes - enjoy your pets while you can.
God created domestic animals for our love and care, and they return our love. Lemon was the most loving cat we've had; honestly. You could tell that he appreciated his surroundings.
He showed up at our house nearly dead because something had attacked him, and dad was going to take him to the vet so they could put him down. In dad's words, "he talked to me all the way over." Needless to say, he couldn't have the cat put down. We spent so much on him, and he rewarded us for the next several years with much love.

We miss you, Lemon.

Love your pets - they've been given to us by a Father who loves them, and wants them to have good homes.
