Fourth of July

hi everyone!! i hope you all had an amazing fourth of july. we did; we had 40 + people over and got to shoot off fireworks. the boys had their annual army men battle once again, and nathan, although he couldn't participate, had a grand time being able to shout out orders from the chair he was in. friday morning, three hours before everyone was supposed to arrive, although one family already had to help set up the army men, nathan cut his leg with a box cutter, which resulted in a trip to the emergency room. thankfully, it wasn't a bad cut, and he was well enough to hobble around a bit on crutches and enjoy the evening.
the fireworks were great, and i think everyone enjoyed their time; i hope they did. life is going far to fast not to enjoy things like this.

and an extra picture from the 5th; a friend of mine spent the night and we went to the 4th of July parade down town on the next day.

The Feeling of Rain

last night, it was dark when i came home from work. the air had cooled and rain had begun falling from the invisible skies. i went inside and put my bag away, and then changed into some shorts and an oversized flannel button down; i told mom i was going outside, and then stepped into the night. it was wonderful. the rain poured down around me and i went out to the swing, and began to swing in the rain and listen to it pound the canopy of leaves all around, and let it wash over me and cleanse me. i then sat in the grass, hugging my knees, thinking about life, love, and God. it felt so amazing. it really, truly did, and i'm convinced that those who do not lose themselves in the beautiful creation of darkness and rain for a brief moment in time are really missing out.
God really gave me a very precious gift last night. it helped me to breathe, relax and reconnect. it was a very... wonderful moment.

Lavender Coffee, Muffins, and Fairy Paintings

today mom and i went to winston-salem to an absolutely awesome hippie coffee shop with mom. i absolutely LOVED it and took a bunch of pictures. i had a lavender café-au-lait for the first time ever - it was absolutely awesome. i noticed that the lady working there didn't have an espresso machine, so i asked why, and she said that the owners mostly wanted to focus on the coffee; the best brewed coffee. and lemme tell you: they succeeded.
mom and i really enjoyed the quaint setting, the fairy paintings on the wall, and the overall scent of coffee and hardwood floors.
it was a good day. a little stressful, but a good day. mom and i really enjoyed our time together.

Roses and Thorns

Every Human Has a Monster

     every human has a monster.
embrace the scary side of a person, and your love to them will show them God's love. proverbs 17:17: a friend loves at all times.
don't let people's monsters scare you away.

Life in Pictures

so my mom got me this absolutely AWESOME steam-punk-ish trunk the other day - it was $12 at the thrift store, and i'm positively in love with it. it even locks. i love the way it looks and it adds a certain touch to my room that i adore.
life has been tangled like my earbuds recently, but that's ok - aren't most plots complicated?

Me at work last night - the Lowly Janitor xD But oh well.
I like my job :)
